Port of New Orleans Celebrates Ninth Annual Maritime Month
The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) celebrated its ninth annual Maritime Month May 1-31 and National Maritime Day on May 22, 2025.
National Maritime Day is observed each year to highlight the critical role the maritime industry plays in global commerce and to salute the dedicated women and men who connect Louisiana to markets worldwide.
The month-long celebration also pays tribute to the region’s rich maritime history. Maritime activity on the Mississippi River is responsible for millions in economic impact and thousands of family-supporting jobs in the region and state.

Port NOLA Sets All-Time Record High for Cruise Passenger Moves
The Port of New Orleans announces it set a record high in March 2025 with over 165,000 cruise passenger movements- the number of cruise passengers who either board or leave a cruise ship.
The record-breaking numbers topped Port NOLA’s previous high of just over 155,000 cruise passenger moves in March 2023. This momentum comes after a record-breaking year in 2024 for Port NOLA with more than 1.2 million cruise passenger movements.

Port of New Orleans Names Loren Marino as Vice President of External Affairs and Chief of Staff
The Port of New Orleans announces that it has named Loren Marino as its Vice President of External Affairs and Chief of Staff.
In this critical role, Marino will oversee community engagement, ensure effective communication and execution across the Port and New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB), lead strategic planning efforts along with oversight for Human Resources, Procurement, IT, and Marketing and Communications.
