New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Celebrates Completion of Railyard Expansion Project


The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB) celebrated the completion of an expansion project that will further increase throughput in the New Orleans rail gateway.


Located along the Industrial Canal in New Orleans, the newly constructed France Road Railyard will improve efficiencies and increase NOPB’s capacity to switch, interchange and store rail cars, now accommodating an additional 220 storage cars.

Gov. John Bel Edwards Appoints Todd Murphy to Port of New Orleans Board


Gov. John Bel Edwards appointed Todd P. Murphy to the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) to succeed Commissioner Jack C. Jensen. Murphy was sworn in during the July Board meeting and will serve a five-year term.

Port of New Orleans Celebrates Major Milestone in its Commitment to Sustainability


The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) marked the replacement of more than 100 trucks through the Clean Truck Replacement Incentive Program (Clean TRIP).


Since Port NOLA launched the Clean TRIP program in 2016, 101 short-haul drayage trucks have been replaced with cleaner burning engines, reducing fine particulate emissions from each truck by 96 percent, which is equal to taking more than 116,000 cars off the road.

Regional Planning Commission Awards Feasibility Study to Support Louisiana International Terminal Transportation Infrastructure

Governor John Bel Edwards praised the award of a contract to study the St. Bernard Transportation Corridor, among other roadway improvements, to support the Louisiana International Terminal, a $1.8 billion container terminal planned by the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) in Violet, Louisiana.


The new terminal will be able to serve vessels of all sizes, dramatically increasing Louisiana’s import and export capacity and stimulating the creation of more than 18,000 jobs statewide and more than $1 billion in local and state tax revenue.


“Investments in economic infrastructure projects, such as the Louisiana International Terminal, that provide quantifiable jobs and economic impact, must be prioritized over ideological and political differences,” said Gov. John Bel Edwards. “The State of Louisiana remains fully committed to this project.”
