Tropical Weather Update - August 24, 2020 (2:45 PM)
So far so good.
We have not experienced any major weather issues from TS Marco, which is now being downgraded to a tropical depression. All TS warnings for Marco have been cancelled as of this writing. As such, we plan to open tomorrow to re-start operations at most of our facilities. We expect some residual delays related to rail shipments due to flood gate closures that may remain in effect in the event that Hurricane Laura makes any turns back towards to the East. We continue to monitor Hurricane Laura closely and you can find out the latest at https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/, which is updated as soon as new information is available.
All Kearney Companies, Inc. warehouse and yard operations will reopen tomorrow am at 07:30.
Rail operations in and out of New Orleans is still suspended between the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB) and the Class 1 carriers like BNSF, CSX, CN, KCS, NS and UP. We will advise once we learn more on the flood gate openings that are needed to restore rail activity.
All railcars that we have on our property are now pulled and relocated to yards that are behind the flood protection levee system, until the flood gates are reopened, these cars will not be able to be moved to our yards/terminals.
The gate at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal at The Port of New Orleans is also expected to reopen tomorrow with normal hours of operation.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please be sure to advise by email to your customers service representative. We appreciate your business and hope that this system will pass without any major impact to our operations.
