At this time, we would like to make sure you are aware of the potential impacts of Hurricane force winds, storm surge, and heavy rains with flooding in the Port of New Orleans Area as a result Tropical Storm Sally. Due to the latest forecast for Tropical Storm Sally, we are preparing for severe weather starting Monday evening and all-day Tuesday. We will be following our normal hurricane preparation procedures and working today and tomorrow to secure all warehouse buildings, outside terminals and material handling equipment. Further, we continue to focus on the safety of our employees and their families.
Current Operational Update:
All Kearney Companies, Inc. warehouses and yard operations are planned to be OPEN on Monday, September 14, 2020, except for our 3900 Jourdan Road Location which is CLOSED due to flood gate closures in that area.
We will be finalizing and storm preparations all day Monday 9-14-2020. We expect the weather to deteriorate Monday evening with tropical force winds and rain with dangerous conditions through Tuesday, September 15th.
Our Offices and Terminals will be CLOSED on Tuesday, September 15th. We will remain closed until we feel that it is safe for employees to return to work.
The NOPB Rail operations in and out of New Orleans are now suspended between the NOPB and the Class 1 carriers like BNSF, CSX, CN, KCS, NS and UP.
Port of New Orleans Terminal Operations: New Orleans Terminal and Ports America will CLOSE at NOON on Monday, September 14. Empire and Coastal Cargo for breakbulk operations for Monday, September 14 is TBA at this time.
Vessel Operations: The Coast Guard has set Port condition to X-RAY, for commercial marine traffic. The BAR pilots have advised the last outbound vessel is at 10 AM this morning, the last inbound vessel is at 1600 this afternoon.
