Hurricane Ida Update 8/27/21

Dear valued employees, customers, and vendors:

The Kearney Companies, Inc. would like to provide you with a tropical weather advisory regarding Hurricane Ida which is expected to make landfall near New Orleans, LA on Sunday evening August 29th.

As a result of the projected track and the expected strength of this storm, we expect to have weather related impacts to our operations on Monday, August 30th. We will be following our normal hurricane preparation procedures and working to secure all buildings, equipment, and personal to ensure everyone’s safety. As we receive updated information from the various City, State and Federal Agencies, we will pass them along.

KCO - Operational Status Report:

Our New Orleans office & terminals remain OPEN today for normal operations. We expect to have a limited operation Monday, this may change depending on the storm’s path and strength. We will keep you updated on our operations status as this develops over the next 96 hours.

Port of New Orleans - Terminal Operations

New Orleans Terminal and Ports America for containerized operations will be CLOSED Monday, August 30, 2021. Empire, Coastal Cargo, Gulf Stream Marine and Ports America for breakbulk operations will be CLOSED Monday, August 30, 2021.

Port of New Orleans - Vessel Operations

The US Coast Guard has set Port Condition to: X-RAY, expected to be updated to Yankee later today.

BAR pilots are standing by and monitoring, the last vessel outbound will be at Pilottown by noon Saturday, August 28, 2021 and no inbounds schedule after that time. Vessel schedules will be updated as conditions evolve at:

Port of New Orleans - Rail Operations

The New Orleans Rail Gateway will be CLOSING Saturday, August 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm, and operations will remained CLOSED Monday August 30, 2021 with floodgate closures. The FLPA will be closing the gates starting Saturday August 28, 2021 and will likely be CLOSED through Monday August 30, 2021, More info can be found here: for flood gate status
